LDA approved societies in Lahore: the full list and how to check one
The Lahore Development Authority keeps two public lists of private housing schemes: an approved register and an illegal list. In Q4 2026 the approved register holds 400 entries and the illegal list 383. Search both below, see the approval stage LDA records for each scheme, and check your phase and block before you pay or build.

Five checks
How to check an LDA society in five steps
LDA approves schemes phase by phase. The useful question is whether the phase and block your plot sits in is approved, at which stage, and whether that plot is free to build on.
Avenir is an architecture and construction firm, not a legal adviser. For title, transfer and file checks, use a property lawyer.
- Get the name LDA uses.Ask the seller or the society office for the exact registered name and phase. Advertised names often differ from the register. Lake City appears as Lake City Bella Vista and Lake City Bella Verde, and Lake City Meadows appears as State Life Insurance Cooperative Housing Scheme.
- Search LDA's approved register.Type lda.gop.pk/approved-schemes into your browser yourself rather than following a forwarded link. Note the approval stage, the date and the mauza. "View Details" shows the approved area, the plot counts, the approved blocks and the mortgaged plots.
- Search LDA's illegal list too.Search lda.gop.pk/illegal-schemes by name and by road. A later phase or an extension of an approved scheme can sit on the illegal list. Bahria Orchard Phase-I is on the approved register, while Phases II, II Extension and IV, and Sectors G and H, are on the illegal list.
- Match your plot to the approved layout.Your block should be one of the approved blocks. Your plot should not be one of the mortgaged plots, which the developer pledges to LDA as security for finishing roads and services. LDA's draft 2021 regulations bar construction on a mortgaged plot until LDA releases it.
- Get it in writing before you pay.Ask the society for a copy of LDA's approval letter and the approved layout plan for your block. Confirm the position with LDA's Metropolitan Planning office for the area.

Entries are LDA's own rows. One scheme can have several rows for its phases, extensions and revised layouts, and a few names appear twice. Names are spelt as LDA spells them. Dates are those LDA records; a year alone where LDA gives only a year.
Register labels
What each label on LDA's lists means
LDA records approval stages as free text. We group them into the labels below without changing LDA's wording in the search. Here is what each label tells you, and what to ask next.

Same name, two lists
Names that appear on both lists
Some names sit on the approved register and the illegal list at the same time. Sometimes the mauza matches too. Sometimes an extension or a later phase carries the parent's name. Read the mauza, the phase and the directorate before you rely on a name. We matched these by name, so treat them as examples rather than a complete list.

Similar names, different schemes: Valencia Valley (illegal, Pine Avenue Road) is not Valencia Town; Dream Garden (illegal, behind Zam Zam City) is not the approved Dream Gardens; Gulberg Park Housing Scheme (illegal, off Ferozepur Road) is not Gulberg. Etihad Town Phase III does not appear on either list under that name; ask for LDA's approval letter for Phase III by name.

Two approvals: the scheme's and your house's
Scheme approval
LDA's approval of a developer's layout, land uses and services for a defined area. It is the status shown on the lists above.
Building plan approval
Your own application, for your plot, against your drawings. A scheme's approval does not approve a house, and your house plan is checked against the scheme's approved layout.
LDA links its building plan approvals to the Punjab e-Biz portal (ebiz.punjab.gov.pk). Some schemes check drawings before they reach LDA: Etihad Town's building regulations have its management scrutinise each set first. Ask your society which office receives drawings first.
LDA's Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 define a registered architect as one registered with the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners and enrolled on LDA's list of approved architects (Regulation 1.1). Ask any architect you appoint to show both. Avenir gives its credentials in writing on request.
The same regulations, as amended, set setbacks, coverage, height and parking for plots in approved schemes. This page does not reproduce them. Each society page applies them to that society's plots, as on Lake City and Etihad Town, and the Lahore page compares LDA and DHA rules for the same plot.
Technical approval only. Before you commission drawings for a plot in a scheme with technical approval only, ask LDA whether it will accept a building plan for that block yet.

When a society is on neither list
Not every planned area of Lahore is an LDA-approved private scheme. Several are governed by another body, or by LDA directly.

Reading the lists
What the two lists show
- The illegal list is concentrated in one directorate. 202 of its 383 entries fall under LDA's Metropolitan Planning Directorate IV (DMP-IV), followed by DMP-III (56), DMP-I (51), DMP-V (47) and DMP-II (27).
- Farm schemes feature heavily. 55 entries on the illegal list carry "farm" in their name. Where a road is given, Barki Road appears 12 times and Bedian Road 5 times, both areas where buyers look for farmhouse land. Check the scheme before you plan the farmhouse design.
- LDA acts on the list. In July 2026 LDA's DMP-IV teams demolished roads, boundary walls and sewers and sealed site offices in 14 illegal schemes, ProPakistani reported. Al Hammad Meadows and Royal Villas, named in that report, are both on the illegal list; Royal Villas also appears on the approved register.
- Approvals continue. The newest approval date on the register is 18 November 2025, final approval for the amalgamated Eden Abad schemes. 24 of the 47 technical approvals are dated 2020 or later.
- Amendments are published separately. LDA's Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 apply as amended, and LDA publishes its amendments as separate documents. Ask for the current edition by name before design starts.

Before you buy
Questions about LDA approved societies
How do I check if a society is LDA approved?
Search the exact registered name on LDA's approved register at lda.gop.pk/approved-schemes, then search LDA's illegal list at lda.gop.pk/illegal-schemes by name and by road. Note the stage LDA records. Check that your block is among the approved blocks and that your plot is not a mortgaged plot. Then ask the society for LDA's approval letter for your phase, in writing, before you pay.
How many LDA approved societies are there in Lahore?
In Q4 2026 LDA's approved register has 400 entries. That is not 400 societies, because phases, extensions and revised layouts are separate entries and a few names appear twice. 135 entries record final approval and 47 record technical approval only.
What does "technically approved" mean on LDA's list?
LDA has technically approved the scheme's layout plan, and final approval has not yet been issued. LDA's rules, as reported in 2020, allow plots to be sold at this stage once the developer has paid LDA's fees. LDA's draft 2021 regulations say plot possession should not be handed over until the scheme is sanctioned. 47 entries are at this stage.
What does "TMA approved" mean?
The scheme was approved by a Tehsil Municipal Administration, a union council or a zila council, and LDA now records it on its register. Of the 36 entries in this group, the 32 that carry a date were all approved between 1996 and February 2014. Ask which office approves building plans there today.
Is a society on LDA's illegal list safe to buy in?
LDA lists those schemes as illegal. In July 2026 LDA teams demolished roads, boundary walls and sewers in 14 illegal schemes and sealed their site offices. Ask LDA to confirm the scheme's status in writing before any payment.
Is DHA Lahore LDA approved?
DHA Lahore is not an LDA scheme and does not appear on LDA's register. DHA Lahore approves building plans in its phases through its own Building Control Directorate, under its own regulations.
Is Gulberg an LDA approved society?
Gulberg is not a private housing scheme, so it is not on LDA's approved register. LDA's Building and Zoning Regulations 2019 name the "Gulberg Scheme" in their rules for converted plots, and LDA's Town Planning wing enforces land use there. Gulberg Park Housing Scheme, off Ferozepur Road, is a different scheme on the illegal list.
Is Park View City Lahore LDA approved?
Park View City is not on either LDA list. RUDA, the Ravi Urban Development Authority, approved an 11,000 Kanal residential project there, as reported in March 2024.
Can I build in a scheme that has technical approval only?
Ask LDA before you commission drawings. A building plan is checked against the scheme's approved layout plan, and some plots in the scheme may be mortgaged to LDA until the developer finishes the works.
How current is this list?
We read both LDA lists in full every quarter, and this copy is from Q4 2026. LDA's own website is the record, so check it again on the day you pay.
